[Spoilers for those who have not seen the Homeland season 5 finale]
Homeland producers previously hinted that CIA badass Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) is coming back in this year’s sixth season.
But in case those nudges weren’t clear enough, executive producer Howard Gordon is making things even more explicit at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Pasadena on Friday, where the veteran producer was promoting his new series
The Frankenstein Code Lookinglass Second Chance.
“Quinn, who is extraordinary … has a good chance of coming back,” Gordon told THR. “The way we’re thinking about bringing him back — if he does come back — is really exciting to me personally.”
Previously Showtime programming president Gary Levine said, “Quinn is severely damaged. There is no question about it. The life-or-death question remains. But if he should live, it will not be in any way, shape, or form the way he has lived to date.”
Homeland returns this fall with a new season largely set in and around New York City. Quinn was left apparently brain damaged and in a coma in the season finale, with Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) seemingly on the verge of suffocating him with a pillow. Maybe she was just fluffing it for him?
