Janet Jackson on Wednesday gave a health update amid rumors that she’s battling throat cancer — and she did it almost entirely with a song.
The singer posted a video on Twitter that opens with her Unbreakable track “The Great Forever” — with lyrics like “Sources say but where ya gettin’ it/ Don’t create the truth you like” scrolling on the screen — before sharing good news: “I do not have cancer.”
“Remember… believe it when you hear it from my lips,” a message reads at the end of the video. “The rumors are untrue. I do not have cancer. I’m recovering. My doctors have approved my concerts as scheduled in Europe, and as I promised, the postponed shows will be rescheduled. Thank you for your prayers and love.”
RadarOnline was the first to report on Tuesday that doctors found a tumor on the singer’s throat “that could be cancerous.”
In a Facebook post on Dec. 24, Jackson announced that she’s postponing dates on her Unbreakable World Tour until spring because doctors told her she “must have surgery soon.” (The tour, in support of her 11th studio album, kicked off in Vancouver in August and was scheduled to resume on Jan. 9 in Denver and continue through June.)
