Chris Stapleton closed out his electric year by plugging in one final time. On New Year’s Eve, he performed on Lower Broadway in Nashville with Kings of Leon, Kelsea Ballerini, and Wild Cub.

Fans who caught the show were in for a major treat when Stapleton, whose excellent album Traveller was EW’s best country album of the year, joined the group during their final song. Together they delivered a soaring rendition of Southern rock legends’ Lynyrd Skynyrd’s 1973 standard “Simple Man.”

Swollen with four guitars, the roots-rocking lilts of Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill and Stapleton, and the raucous chorus of 150,000 revelers, this version flat out cooks. Check it out above.
