Craig Strickland, a country singer for band Backroad Anthem who was reported missing Dec. 27 after heading out for a hunting trip with his friend Chase Morland, has been found dead, People reports. He was 29.

Strickland and Morland were duck hunting on Oklahoma’s Kaw Lake during a winter storm when their boat capsized. Morland was later found dead, Backroad Anthem revealed Dec. 28. Strickland was found Jan. 4 “within the original search area known as Bear Creek Cove,” a spokesperson for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Enforcement Division confirmed to People.

Strickland’s wife, Helen, has posted messages of gratitude on her Instagram for those who’ve helped looked for Craig. “Thank you for refusing to give up,” she captioned a video of the search Sunday. That same day, she posted a photo of some of the volunteers from the search and rescue teams.

“We cannot thank you enough for the hard work and tiresome volunteer hours you poured into the search for #craigstrickland,” she wrote. “Your acts of kindness and generosity gave our family continued hope. Thank you for creating this program strictly from the goodness of your hearts.”
