Tina and Amy (and Maya)! Amy and Tina (and Maya)!
The 2015 Saturday Night Live holiday episode was exactly what fans wished for: a homecoming of two beloved valedictorians whose ya-ya sisterhood is the best comedy combo going right now. Sprinkle in Bruce Springsteen and Lorne Michaels’ favorite Beatle singing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” and you’re already better than 90 percent of SNL episodes.
Fey and Poehler slipped back into their most memorable political alter egos — Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton — did a quick pop-in on “Weekend Update,” and Poehler and Rudolph were back chewing the fat as Bronx’s most boisterous ladies. But the best beats of the episode were all new, starting with the brilliant new game show, “Meet Your Second Wife.” When was the last time an SNL sketch made you laugh and wince? And “Dope Squad” was both funny and (perhaps) a poke at Taylor Swift.
Poehler and Fey are an interesting entry to our best host contest for the obvious reason that they’re a pair. But it’s no use trying to treat them as separate “contestants”; they are a team and the episode was a 50/50 partnership. We can easily order an extra Ms. Saturday Night trophy if voters decide that the Sisters stars will go the distance.
It doesn’t take much inside info to predict that the duo will dominate the polls this week. Chris Hemsworth is currently in first, but his debut was slightly less than Ryan Gosling, who dropped to second. Amy Schumer looks safe in third, leaving alum Tracy Morgan on the brink of elimination. He’s dodged elimination before, but the numbers might work against him this week.
Chris Hemsworth 49.7% (—)
Ryan Gosling 28.2% (-32 pts)
Amy Schumer 13.6% (-8)
Tracy Morgan 5.6% (-1)
Matthew McConaughey 3.0% (-4)
Our rules are simple: Who was the best, most memorable SNL host this season? More specifically, who do you hope gets invited back next year? Whose show had your boss, your mom, and your roommate still giggling on Monday morning? It’s subjective, of course, but let’s reward the guest hosts who brought something special to the table. So far, we’ve eliminated McConaughey, Elizabeth Banks,&Miley Cyrus, and Donald Trump.

Below, see one representative clip from each of the five hosts, just as a small taste of their recent performances. You’re not voting on this one sketch alone; be sure to consider the entire episode. Make your pick below, and the host with the least support will be eliminated; the other four will advance to compete against Adam Driver on Jan. 16. Ultimately, we’ll dismiss the less memorable hosts and crown a new Mr. or Ms. Saturday Night in May. Watch and vote below.
