Captain America: Civil War: image sees Avengers duking it out

The Avengers are about to face their greatest threat — each other. New promo art for Captain America: Civil War features an epic battle scene between Team Captain America and Team Iron Man as rendered by Marvel concept artists Andy Park and Ryan Meinerding.

“This is a tryptic marketing illustration for Captain America: Civil War,” Park wrote on Instagram alongside the image. “What a challenge this was! This movie is going to knock people’s socks off! Can’t wait!” He continued in a separate post, “It was especially fun painting [Ant-Man, Black Widow, and Hawkeye] b/c I also got to concept design their looks for all their film appearances (except for Iron Man 2).”

Following the devastating events in the previous Marvel movies, Captain America: Civil War sees the governments of the world enforcing harsher restrictions on the superheroes. The action causes the Avengers to split and rally behind either Iron Man, who is in favor of the restrictions, or Captain America, who opposes an imposing government.

The film will be released on May 6, 2016, and you can get even more information from EW’s Civil War issue, including scoops on Black Panther and Spider-Man
