The next presidential election may still be “a million years” away, but Tina Fey is already thinking about how she might fulfill her patriotic duty on Saturday Night Live — and it involves Amy Poehler.

“Maybe we will play Ted Cruz’s ears,” Fey suggests. “‘How’s it going over there?’ ‘It’s good! I can see straight through!’ “

The one-time professional Sarah Palin impersonator stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday to talk about her upcoming return to SNL — Fey and Poehler will co-host Saturday’s show — as well as the pair’s new movie, Sisters.

“It’s fun, because we don’t really get to jack our business up and out,” Fey said of a scene in which their characters try on party dresses. “I don’t live like Sofia Vergara.”
