Another new trailer has arrived for Lionsgate’s Gods of Egypt — that action-packed quasi-historical epic catching attention for its casting choices — and what the film lacks in cultural authenticity, it seems to compensate in explosions and sand monsters.
The film stars Brenton Thwaites as a mortal who finds himself wrapped up in an empire-sized feud between the god of darkness, Set (Gerard Butler), and the sky god, Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). The fantasy also stars Rufus Sewell as Urshu, Chadwick Boseman as Thoth, Geoffrey Rush as Ra, and introducing several sand monsters as Sand Monsters.
The new trailer showcases some of the film’s undeniably gorgeous set pieces, taking a decidedly calmer (seriously) approach to the events of the debut trailer, which focused on establishing the literally eye-popping backstory of Set and Horus.
Gods of Egypt opens in theaters Feb. 26.
