Get ready for a mini-Friday Night Lights reunion on Nashville!
EW has learned exclusively that Alicia Witt has landed a major arc on the ABC drama. The Friday Night LIghts alum (she starred as Cheryl from 2009-11) will reunite with Connie Britton on Nashville to play country music sensation, Autumn.
Here’s an official description of her character: “Since she arrived in Nashville 20 years ago, Autumn can still top the charts and sell out arenas. She’s a respected singer who’s paid her dues and who’s managed to both cross over to pop, and thrive in the era of bro country. Autumn can do it all, and does, because she’s dedicated her life to it. Women want to be her and men want to be with her. Never married, but perpetually involved, Autumn struggles to find real love in her life. When you’re as famous as she is, it’s hard to find men who aren’t threatened by her, or sold on the fantasy.”
The Nashville gig represents a dream job for Witt, who is an experienced singer/songwriter. She recorded her latest album, Revisionary History, at RCA Studios in Nashville (Ben Folds acted as producer). And remember how Mr. Holland encouraged her red-haired alter-ego to “play the sunset” on the clarinet in Mr. Holland’s Opus?
Witt’s recent TV credits include Justified and House of Lies.
