‘Tis the season for holiday covers, and on Thursday night, Sleater-Kinney opted out of “Jingle Bell Rock” in favor of a punk classic.
During their gig at Cleveland’s House of Blues, the indie trio broke out The Ramones’ “Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want to Fight Tonight),” off their 1989 record Brain Drain.
Like many Ramones songs, it’s a concise cut, replicated with Carrie Brownstein on vocals and an extra guitarist on hand. Consider tossing the No Cities to Love band into your festive rotation, along with some other non-traditional holiday tracks.
