Despite a recent publicity push that has gone everywhere from magazine covers to television talk shows to social media campaigns, Star Wars: The Force Awakens remains shrouded in heavy secrecy. But that didn’t stop star Harrison Ford from potentially revealing one bit of news during a Star Wars Twitter takeover on Friday night.
Ford, who returns to the franchise to play an older and wiser Han Solo in The Force Awakens, was asked by a fan to name his favorite action scene in the new film.
“The sword fight with Rey and Kilo [sic] Ren,” Ford wrote via the official Star Wars Twitter account. “Fantastic visual storytelling.” The actor signed the tweet with his name and the hashtag #TwitterAwakens.
The Star Wars account later posted a photo of Ford manning its Twitter feed.
So, is that a spoiler? The Force Awakens trailers have not shown Daisy Ridley’s Rey holding a lightsaber so far (that honor goes to Finn, the character played by John Boyega). Rey does, however, come face-to-sword with Kylo Ren’s lightsaber in the international trailer for The Force Awakens.
Not surprisingly, Star Wars fans on Twitter were unhappy with Ford’s possible revelation.
For what it’s worth, Ford has seen The Force Awakens. “It was great,” Ford said during an interview with Good Morning America this week. “It’s a wonderful movie, it’s got great production values. It’s a real big movie and I was delighted to see it.”
