While The Game Awards doled out accolades celebrating the year’s best games, the Geoff Keighley-produced awards show also spotlighted a number of upcoming games. New titles were revealed, already announced games came with brand new looks at what’s on the horizon in 2016, and some old favorites returned to the spotlight.

Travel back to Whispering Rock
Making many a Double Fine fan’s dreams come true, Tim Schafer announced the developer is looking to produce a sequel to the 2005 critical hit Psychonauts. The company is taking the crowdfunding route, as it did with Broken Age, looking for funds through new platform Fig. Already a third of the way to its goal, the future is beginning to look bright for the return of Raz and his fellow psychics-in-training.
Meet Nathan Drake’s newest foe
Nathan Drake’s charm won’t always get him through any situation, as a new cinematic scene from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End indicates. Drake’s night is interrupted by a brand new character who isn’t letting the Nolan North-infused spirit of Drake stop her from seeking out an artifact. And try as he might, Drake is pulled into battle once again. Expect to hear more about the game at this weekend’s PlayStation Experience, but watch the cutscene below.
Telltale tells two new tales
Telltale Games had indicated its The Walking Dead: Michonne mini-series would appear during the show, and it did, revealing a new release window and a lead actress. But one of the biggest surprises of the night came in Telltale’s other reveal, an upcoming episodic series based on Batman. Little is known about what type of story it will tell, but check out a preview of the game’s narrative focus below, and read on for more details.
Leatherface and the Xenomorph prepare for kombat
Four new playable characters have been announced for this year’s Mortal Kombat X, among them being Texas Chainsaw Massacre‘s Leatherface and Alien‘s Xenomorph. Check out the reveal for them and two more characters below.
Trailers, trailers, trailers
The night was full of trailer reveals, filling in a few more pieces to the puzzle of upcoming games. New looks included Quantum Break, Far Cry Primal, and Rise of the Tomb Raider‘s new downloadable expansion, “Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch.” Among them was a proper look at the return of Shaquille O’Neal’s fighting game, Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn.
And Rock Band is adding one more peripheral to its repertoire, as Rock Band VR has been announced. Yes, players will be able to live out their virtual rock star dreams from the comfort of their living rooms while feeling like they’re standing on stage at a concert. Check out the reveal below.
