Kristen Stewart stars in Chanel short film by Karl Lagerfeld

Posted on

Kristen Stewart channels the legendary Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in a new short from Chanel head designer Karl Lagerfeld and, in the behind-the-scenes-inspired film, shows off a serious streak of crazy that’s totally meta (and if we’re being honest, is kind of amazing).

The 11-minute movie, called Once and Forever, premiered in Rome before Chanel’s 2015/16 collection was unveiled on Tuesday and stars Stewart as an actress stepping into Chanel’s haute couture shoes, giving viewers a peek at what life can be like on a movie set once the cameras stop rolling.

Though there are plenty of moments where Stewart’s character really does appear to be taking her role seriously as young Coco, the scenes where she acts like a total mean girl are definitely the most amusing. From throwing a hissy fit over a surprise press conference (“Go hire another f–king actress!”) to getting her sexy co-star thrown off the film because she doesn’t “want to fake” chemistry, Stewart’s difficult demeanor is everything you’d imagine a celebrity diva to be.

But she’s not sulking the whole time: the Chanel spokesperson also reveals a lighter side to her personality, singing acapella in French and doing a dance routine with a cane that’s actually quite impressive. And while there’s some seriously hot eye candy in the film in the form of a sexy butler, the short is also worth a click to see Stewart transform from an everygirl in jeans and a hoodie to majorly dressed up in glamorous Chanel outfits ranging from a sequined evening gown to a flapper-inspired ensemble.

Co-starring Geraldine Chaplin as an older Chanel, Jérémie Elkaïm, François Marthouret, Amanda Harlech, Jamie Bochert, Jake Davies, Baptiste Giabiconi and Laura Brown, Once and Forever capitalizes on Lagerfeld’s admiration for the Clouds of Sils Maria star.

“I think she’s one of the greatest actors of her generation,” Lagerfeld said of Stewart to Women’s Wear Daily last month. “She gives the right emotion and the right intensity immediately so it’s very easy to work her, like it’s easy to work with Geraldine.”
