After quietly replacing Chris Brown as a guest on Tuesday night’s episode of The Daily Show, Comedy Central has addressed the last-minute lineup change.
“Guest bookings are always subject to change,” a spokesperson for the network said in a statement to EW. “The show hopes to reschedule Chris for a future appearance.”
No further details were provided.
The swapping of Brown for Chi-Raq actor Nick Cannon came in the wake of a report by the Daily Beast on Monday that said “several Daily Show staffers” told the publication that Brown’s booking had become “a cause for concern around the office.”
Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault against his then-girlfriend Rihanna six years ago and has had a turbulent life in the limelight since then. According to the Daily Beast, Noah had hoped “to use the interview to bring light to domestic abuse issues.”
