This holiday season, Logo is redefining what it means to don our gay apparel. The LGBT network is launching a December-long holiday programming schedule referred to as “Happy Holigays.” And to kick it all off, Logo will air a special holiday episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race called RuPaul’s Drag Race: Green Screen Christmas.
Green Screen Christmas is the first-ever holiday special for Drag Race. RuPaul will celebrate the holiday season with past contestants and celebrities, as well as performances of Christmas classics and original songs from RuPaul’s new holiday album Slay Belles — his first holiday album in 18 years. RuPaul will duet with Todrick Hall, Big Freedia, Ellis Miah, Michelle Visage, Siedah Garrett, and Markaholic. Some Drag Race fan-favorites — including Latrice Royale, Raja, Laganja Estranja, Alyssa Edwards, and Shangela — will also get in the holiday spirit on stage. During the special, RuPaul will premiere his new music video “Merry Christmas, Mary,” which features 20 drag queens from past seasons of Drag Race.
After the special, Logo will unroll its holiday programming, which will last until the start of 2016. All throughout this time, the Grammy-winning a cappella group Pentatonix will perform classic carols and new festive favorites between airings of holiday movies and TV episodes. Holiday movies will include Love Actually and The Family Stone, and the network will air the holiday specials of Roseanne, The Golden Girls, Will & Grace, and more. The Happy Holigays event will conclude on New Year’s Eve with a marathon of RuPaul’s Drag Race: Season 5 RuVealed.
RuPaul’s Drag Race: Green Screen Christmas will air on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. ET on Logo. For a sneak peek at one of Ru’s songs from the special, watch below.
