Bindi Irwin took a moment to honor her late father’s memory on Sunday, celebrating him along with the rest of Australia on Steve Irwin Day.
“We miss you so much and are extremely proud to be carrying on in your footsteps,” Bindi wrote in an Instagram post about Steve Irwin, whose life is celebrated by Australian fans annually on Nov. 15. Irwin died on Sept. 4, 2006, attacked by a sting ray while on a shoot. Bindi has continued to honor her father’s legacy, including an Instagram post on the ninth anniversary of his death, right around Father’s Day in Australia, as well as during her current run on Dancing With the Stars. Her dance partner on the show, Derek Hough, also posted on Instagram in memory of Irwin’s life.
“Thank you for joining us in making a difference. Wearing our khakis and remember everything Dad did to change the world,” she wrote. See Bindi’s full tribute to her father below.
