The assimilation of Apple Music is complete. Beats Music will officially be no more by the end of the month; the service announced on its website that Beats Music’s final day will be Nov. 30.
Apple bought Beats Music in May 2014 for $3 billion, just three months after its launch, and reports surfaced as early as September 2014 that Apple was considering shutting down the app. The announcement comes three days after Apple Music launched on Android, removing the sole advantage Beats Music had. Apple Music, which launched this summer, has thrived with exclusive content and now boasts 6.5 million subscribers as of Oct. 20.
