Phil Taylor, most known for his work as Motörhead’s drummer, has died, former bandmate Eddie Clarke announced on his Facebook page Thursday. Taylor was 61.
“He has been ill for sometime but that does not make it any easier when the time finally comes,” Clarke wrote in the post. “I have known Phil since he was 21 and he was one hell of a character. Fortunately we made some fantastic music together and I have many many fond memories of our time together. Rest in Peace, Phil!”
Taylor, also known as Philthy Animal, was a member of Motörhead for almost 15 years. He started drumming for them in 1975 before taking a break in 1984 and rejoining them from 1987 to 1992.
