The debut of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (the subject of this week’s EW cover story) already has fans excited, but here’s something that makes it even more epic: EW has confirmed that the first official trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse will debut in front of the J.J. Abrams-helmed film opening Dec. 18.
EW revealed the first images from Apocalypse, which finds the X-Men battling an ancient mutant with the titular name, this past summer. But, aside from a trailer shown at Comic-Con, this will be fans’ first look at next summer’s mutant bonanza. It’s also somewhat fitting that the trailer is paired with The Force Awakens since the films both share a leading man: Oscar Isaac, who plays pilot Poe Dameron in Star Wars and the titular villain in Apocalypse.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens in theaters May 26 and stars Isaac, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, and Olivia Munn.
Collider was first to report the trailer news.
