Neill Blomkamp is in talks to write the script for and direct Fox’s movie adaptation of The Gone World, a forthcoming sci-fi novel from Thomas Sweterlitsch, EW has confirmed.

The novel isn’t published yet, but is described as “a time travel procedural.” TriStar grabbed the rights to Sweterlitsch’s debut novel, Tomorrow and Tomorrow, and multiple studios reportedly chased this one. Deadline was first to report the news.

Blomkamp has been a buzzy sci-fi director ever since his aliens-as-apartheid fable District 9 piled up multiple awards nominations back in 2009. He was recently recruited to helm the next Alien film, but said last month that project was delayed pending Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel, which is also part of the Alien mythos.

There is currently no release date for The Gone World book or movie.
