Just in time for the fifth anniversary of Kanye West’s once-weekly G.O.O.D Friday music releases, West has officially passed the presidency of the G.O.O.D Music label to friend/collaborator/labelmate Pusha T, he announced in a statement from the label. The rapper talked to Billboard about working with West and his plans for the label.
“I think that artistically, me and Kanye have the same vision,” Pusha T tells Billboard. “He respects me as an artist, a really manicured artist. I’m not out here shooting in the dark, doing any and every thing. When it comes to albums and things like that, I have a very manicured process in which I get to take my time and I think he sorta respects that I get to take my time.”
Pusha insisted that his new gig won’t have an impact on the timetable for his next album. “I got a head start on the album so we’re good. You’ll be seeing that very shortly,” Pusha said. “F’real, what you’re gonna get from this King Push album is something people probably haven’t heard in the past 18 years. I’m just putting it together, aiming for classic material.”
When asked if another G.O.O.D. Music compilation in the vein of Cruel Summer was forthcoming anytime soon, Pusha T responded, “I definitely have that on my mood board.” Head over to Billboard to read the full story.
