The CW is no stranger to strong female characters, but it’s currently a stranger to the 1970s, something that Olivia Munn is looking to change.

The CW is no stranger to strong female characters, but it’s currently a stranger to the 1970s, something that Olivia Munn is looking to change.

EW has confirmed that Munn is hoping to executive produce a new project for the network. Currently untitled, the script is set in 1974 and will revolve around a young journalist who gets hired by an ambitious New York news programming chief as a publicity stunt to be one of the first female on-air sports reporters. If picked up to series, the show will follow the gal as she navigates gender politics in front of and behind the camera at a time when women weren’t allowed in the press box.

Munn, who was formerly a sideline reporter herself, will produce alongside Ted Humphrey, who is on board to write and produce.
