In 2015, Jason Statham slid from his action-star lead roles into a villainous turn as Deckard Show in Furious 7 and a hilarious supporting role alongside Melissa McCarthy in Spy. But the transporting crank is set to star in a new action thriller from the writer of the Point Break and Total Recall remakes.

Kurt Wimmer has penned the script for the next Statham starring film, currently saddled with an “Untitled Kurt Wimmer Project” moniker. The film will tell the story of a British expatriate in Hong Kong attempting to resolve a kidnapping with international impact, along with the help of a high-ranking female Chinese agent. Filming is not expected to begin until next fall in China and Europe.

Statham is also producing along with Steven Chasman’s SJ Pictures and the China-based Road Pictures. Statham also has an upcoming sequel to his 2011 action film The Mechanic on the horizon — set to release on Aug. 26 — and, according to Statham himself, a return to the Fast & Furious franchise.
