Jason Bateman to star opposite Liam Neeson in Felt

  • Jason Bateman is set to join Liam Neeson in writer-director Peter Landesman‘s historical thriller Felt. Neeson stars as FBI associate director W. Mark Felt, aka Watergate informant Deep Throat, and Bateman will play his lieutenant Charlie Bates, who discovers his mentor’s actions and is conflicted about what to do. Diane Lane is also on board as Felt’s wife, Audrey. Shooting starts in March.
  • The gender-swapping revenge thriller Tomboy, A Revenger’s Tale, has added Tony Shalhoub, Anthony LaPaglia, and Caitlin Gerard to its cast. Walter Hill is directing the film, which stars Michelle Rodriguez as an expert assassin who is double-crossed and transformed into a woman by a rogue surgeon (Sigourney Weaver), and then seeks retribution.   • Nicole Ari Parker (TV’s Rosewood) has been cast in A Meyers Christmas, the Universal comedy about an estranged family reunited for the holidays for the first time since their matriarch’s death. Danny Glover, Gabrielle Union, Mo’Nique, Kimberly Elise, and Jessie T. Usher are also on board, with David E. Talbert (Baggage Claim) writing and directing. The movie is set to open Nov. 11, 2016.   • Tiger Chen, Danny Chan, and Robin Shou are teaming up in the martial arts Western Kung Fu Cowboy, which centers on a band of displaced Chinese immigrant workers fighting discrimination after the building of the U.S. railroads in the 1800s. Jonathan Lim is directing from a script he wrote with W. Earl Brown. Production is scheduled for early 2016. [Variety]
