The Trumbo star considered these and many more of life’s biggest questions when he stopped by The Late Show on Thursday. Cranston appeared in one of Colbert’s earliest recurring segments, as both Scarlett Johansson and Tom Hanks have before him, lying down with Stephen Colbert on a (fake) grassy field under the studio light-approximated stars and thinking about the universe around them.

Colbert and Cranston question everything from whether God is a woman and if a manatee crying underwater where no one can notice is the saddest thing in the world, all the while intimating that Cranston has a dangerous past in Tampa. At least we know it can’t be much worse than what he did in New Mexico.
