Grammy-winning R&B singer Miguel will adorn the cast of writer, director, and star Ben Affleck’s Prohibition-era crime drama Live by Night, EW has confirmed.

Based on Dennis Lehane’s novel of the same name, the film tells the story of Joe Coughlin (Affleck), a Boston police captain’s son who rises through the ranks of the criminal underworld. As first reported by Deadline, Miguel will play Esteban, the brother of a woman (portrayed by Zoe Saldana) Coughlin crosses paths with in Tampa, Fla.

Miguel joins a cast including Sienna Miller, Elle Fanning, and Chris Messina.

Born Miguel Jontel Pimentel, the singer does not yet have any major acting credits to his name, though he has shown an interest in branching out. Earlier this year, he was attached to star in an untitled romantic drama produced by John Legend.

Live by Night, which started shooting last week, is due in 2017. Warner Bros. will release the film.
