Cat-lovers could previously only collect virtual felines through mobile game Neko Atsume if they either knew Japanese or were willing to do some research — but not anymore: The creators released an English-language version of the game for Android Friday titled Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector.
The game’s project manager, Yutaka Takazaki, told The Verge that they were surprised by its worldwide success. “When we made the game we weren’t thinking about foreign users,” he said. “We were only thinking about the Japanese audience. It’s very helpful that the community is helping each other out.”
Players will have the option to toggle between the Japanese and English versions if they download the new game, which should be available on iOS soon (but you can download the Japanese-only version from here for now). See the tweet announcing the news below.
