While John Oliver may cover any number of political, social, and economic topics on Last Week Tonight, don’t call the host and comedian a journalist.

“I’m not a journalist, at all, obviously. Obviously I’m a comedian,” Oliver said Friday on CBS This Morning. And as if to further separate him from the label frequently affixed to him, Oliver asserted he has no desire to invite one of the most popular figure on news networks, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, to Last Week Tonight.

“I haven’t really got anything to say to him,” Oliver said. “He’s an open book, and that book doesn’t have many interesting words in it.”

Oliver also discusses whether he thinks “The John Oliver Effect” — the very phrase causing Oliver to audibly groan — is a legitimate phenomenon or just good timing on the show’s part, as well as his thoughts on the U.S. election process as a whole. See the video here
