Greta Gerwig joins Natalie Portman in Kennedy drama Jackie

  • Frances Ha star Greta Gerwig is joining Natalie Portman and Peter Sarsgaard in the historical drama Jackie, which will chronicle the first four days in Jackie Kennedy’s life after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Gerwig will play an aide to the former first lady, Portman will play the title role, and Sarsgaard will portray Robert Kennedy. Pablo Larrain (No, The Club) is directing. [Variety]
  • The boxing biopic The Bleeder, starring Live Schreiber, has added four to its cast. Jim Gaffigan, Michael Rapaport, Pooch Hall, and Morgan Spector are joining the film about Chuck Wepner, a liquor salesman and boxer who took Muhammad Ali 15 rounds at 35 years old and may have served as an inspiration for Sylvester Stallone‘s Rocky. Gaffigan is slated to play Wepner’s best friend John Stoehr; Rapaport is tapped to play Wepner’s brother; Hall is Ali; and Spector takes up Stallone. [Deadline]
  • Nocturnal Animals has added True Blood actress Kristin Bauer Van Straten to the cast. Joining Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Adams, Kim Basinger, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Van Straten plays the boss of Susan, a woman who receives a manuscript for her ex-husband’s new novel, forcing her to reexamine her life.
