Popular YA novel 13 Reasons Why is about to become a TV show. Netflix has ordered the show straight-to-series, EW has learned. Selena Gomez will executive produce the project, her rep confirmed to EW, though she’s not attached to star. Deadline first reported the news.

Based on Jay Asher’s bestselling book, 13 Reasons Why will follow the story of Hannah Baker, a young teen who committed suicide and left behind cassette tapes that reveal the reasons she decided to end her life.

From Paramount TV, the project is executive produced by Mandy Teefey, Kristel Laiblin, Anonymous Content, as well, according to Deadline. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Brian Yorkey wrote the pilot.

Work on Gomez’s latest film starring Zac Efron, Seth Rogen, and Rose Byrne, Neighbors 2, officially wrapped on Thursday.
