Former America’s Next Top Model contestant Bello Sanchez is expected to make a “full recovery” following a near-fatal car crash that occurred on Oct. 19.
According to People, the Cycle 22 contender was driving through a suburb of La Crescenta, California, in his Infiniti G37 after a fashion show when he fell asleep at the wheel “due to exhaustion and over-work following an intense schedule of appearances in fashion shows in Los Angeles and Atlanta,” Sanchez’s representative said in a statement to People.
“The car was totaled, and he was found lying unconscious on the ground next to the driver’s door after attempting to flee from the smoking car,” the representative said. “Doctors say that had the airbags not deployed, the accident would have been fatal.”
Sanchez has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder as well as anterograde amnesia, a condition which prevents him from creating new memories. A GoFundMe page has been set up with the hopes of raising as much as $30,000 to help curb the cost of the model’s medical bills.
