It’s been more than three years since Whitney Houston‘s death, and fellow singer Mariah Carey paid tribute to her on Instagram this week for Flashback Friday.

“Forever an icon,” she wrote. Using the hashtag #WhenYouBelieve, Carey posted a photo of her and Houston from back when they recorded the song of the same name.

Their recording of “When You Believe” was featured in the animated DreamWorks film The Prince of Egypt, which told the Biblical story of Moses freeing the slaves. Decked out in white, they reunited to perform the song on stage at the 1999 Oscars. Watch their music video below.

Houston died at the age of 48 on Feb. 11, 2012. “Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston,” Carey tweeted at the time. “My heartfelt condolences to Whitney’s family and to all her millions of fans throughout the world.”
