The Revenant poster: Leonardo DiCaprio crawls back from the dead

Posted on

Birdman director Alejandro González Iñárritu has returned with another stylized film, The Revenant, and the latest poster previews this survival drama with the help of a vocabulary lesson.

As the one-sheet explains, a “revenant” refers to “one who has returned, as if from the dead.” This certainly applies to Leonardo DiCaprio’s Hugh Glass. After being left for dead in the wilderness, the frontiersman of the 1800s must use his survival skills to find his way home.

The Revenant poster shows the contrast between his tragic circumstance the breathtaking landscape that comprises his entrapment, all while revenge brews for the man who put him there.

DiCaprio is joined by Tom Hardy (Legend), Dohmnall Gleeson (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), and Will Poulter (The Maze Runner). The Revenant opens in limited release on Dec. 25 before expanding everywhere on Jan. 8. You can watch the trailer here, and see the full poster below.
