Before a recent show, Luke Bryan spent the day giving one fan a special surprise.
After hearing about Lisa Taylor — a Bryan fan who recently donated a kidney to her mother and saved her life — Bryan dropped by the Taylor household, knocked on the door, and got Taylor and her family on his tour bus. On the ride to the stadium, he and Taylor discussed her sacrifice and family and it wasn’t long before even the singer’s eyes were glassy.
With his feel-good antics, it’s easy to forget that Bryan’s own life has been marred by tragedy. His older brother, Chris, was killed in a car accident before Bryan, 19 years old at the time, left the family’s peanut farm for Nashville with his dreams of stardom. In 2007, just a few days after Bryan made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry, his older sister, Kelly, died from unknown, unexpected causes at home. Late last year, Kelly’s husband, Ben Lee Cheshire, died. They were both survived by their 13-year-old son, Til, whom Bryan and his wife have taken in.
In a very sincere moment, Bryan tells Taylor that while fans think Bryan does it all to make them feel good, the feeling is mutual. Grab your tissues, y’all, the clip is streaming below.
