ABC is shutting down the production pipeline to Blood & Oil.
The network has cut the freshman drama’s order from 13 to 10 episodes.
Though not officially canceled, the decision is typically a finishing move for a low-rated first-year series. Blood & Oil will finish out its 10 episodes through the end of the year.
Previously, Fox cut the episode count for Minority Report and NBC trimmed the number of episodes for The Player, yet none have been outright axed.
Blood & Oil has struggled in the ratings on Sunday night, with its most recent episode generating only 3.5 million viewers and a 0.9 rating. The series follows a young couple (Chace Crawford and Rebecca Rittenhouse) who move to North Dakota and become entangled with an oil tycoon (Don Johnson).
