It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the magnitude of the climate crisis — so overwhelmed that resistance almost seems futile. The world is getting hotter, the ice caps are melting, sea levels are rising, and entire species of plants and animals are disappearing. And you’re just one little person… whose most serious crime might be just driving a truck and living with air conditioning.
That’s the challenge that author Naomi Klein and her husband, director Avi Lewis, tackled when they made This Changes Everything, an environmental documentary that was executive produced by Alfonso Cuarón and inspired by Klein’s 2014 bestseller. Turns out there are answers that can help prevent what seems to be the inevitable — but the days of putting our heads in the sand are over. Global warming isn’t just a threat, but an opportunity for mankind.
This Changes Everything premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and screened in New York on Oct. 2. On Oct. 16, it will screen in Los Angeles, and on Oct. 20, it will launch exclusively on iTunes. Danny Glover, Seth MacFarlane, and Shepard Fairey are among the film’s other executive producers, and in this exclusive clip (above) from the film, Fairey illustrates our global predicament with his art.
