American Horror Story: Hote' premiere ratings high, but not as high as Freak Show

The debut of American Horror Story: Hotel had an impressive number of viewers check in, but it failed to out-perform previous FX tenant Freak Show.

After high initial ratings, the live-plus-three numbers are in for last week’s AHS: Hotel premiere, two encore airings, and streaming servies: The episode netted 12.17 million viewers, making it the second-most-watched telecast in FX history. Still in the No. 1 spot is the premiere of last year’s American Horror Story: Freak Show.

The show attracted 6.13 million adults 18–49 and 3.7 million adults 18–34, ranking No. 5 and No. 3 respectively in those demographics among all season premieres this fall, both new and returning. The premiere was also the No. 2 program of the night in the 18–49 demographic, behind Empire on Fox.

It seems Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Lady Gaga make a fearsome TV team.
