The full first season of The Man in the High Castle won’t arrive until Nov. 20, but you can watch the pilot right now on Amazon — if you haven’t already. The first episode aired earlier this year as part of Amazon’s pilot program, becoming the most-watched Amazon pilot ever, and the cast and crew sat down in the EW and Sirus XM booth at New York Comic-Con to talk about how Amazon’s pilot process affected the show.
“I wasn’t so sure how I felt about it,” showrunner Frank Spotnitz said about the Amazon pilot program. “But since people seem to like [the show], oh yeah, I like the system.”
Based on 1962 novel by Philip K. Dick, The Man in the High Castle imagines what the United States would look like if the Axis powers won World War II.
“I found it really exciting because I think that by the nature of what we’re doing, we’re making a show for you, for the people,” said Alexa Davalos, who plays Juliana Crain, a woman who grew up in San Francisco in the “Japanese Pacific States.” “And for them to be part of it, to be able to communicate with us their thoughts, their feelings, their loves, their dislikes, all those things, it makes perfect sense actually.”
