Rashida Jones and cast of TBS’ new comedy Angie Tribeca stopped by New York Comic Con to chat about their new series, and also Jones’ work as backup singer for Maroon 5.
It’s true: Jones, whose father is music legend Quincy Jones and mother is actress Peggy Lipton, provided backing vocals for the first Maroon 5 album. Speaking to EW at our Sirius XM booth in New York, Jones said she recently found a Maroon 5 demo tape from when the band was called Kara’s Flowers.
“I was like, ‘This has got to be worth something,'” Jones said, before referencing her current collaborators on Angie Tribeca. “If this doesn’t work out, I’m going to sell it on eBay.”
But will Jones and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine ever perform together again? Jones joked about the possibility of doing a duet with Levine on The Voice, before honing in on the right kind of reunion. “I should get up on stage and have nobody turn around,” she said of appearing on the NBC singing competition. “‘I’m sorry, she just sounds old.'”
Angie Tribeca will air on TBS in January. Watch the full interview with Team Angie Tribeca below.
