Though Pan hasn’t even opened in theaters yet, Hugh Jackman is already gearing up to bring the next Wolverine movie to the big screen – though the script isn’t quite ready yet.
The actor visited EW’s SiriusXM studio and told EW and People’s Jess Cagle that he’s teaming up again with Wolverine director James Mangold. The superhero script is still in its early stages — 60 pages in, to be exact — and there’s no start date for the actor as of now. Jackman wants to make sure the script is “perfect” before the project officially gets underway.
“It matters too much to me. I care too much about the character and the audience,” says Jackman, “and when you say it’s going to be our last one – I want to leave everything out on the table.”
But before he was cast in the X-Men franchise, Jackman had to juggle his auditions for the role with his part as Curly in Trevor Nunn’s Royal National Theatre production of Oklahoma. Luckily, the X-Men producers could see past the perm.
