Director Brett Morgen, whose Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck garnered rave reviews earlier this year, recently announced the release of Montage of Heck: The Home Recordings, a compilation of demos by the late Nirvana frontman. Fans can now listen to one of the project’s most anticipated tracks, Cobain’s cover of the early Beatles classic “And I Love Her.”
“I think of this project as a companion to the film in that it tells the story in an aural manner,” Morgen told Rolling Stone this week. The collection, which the director says will be filled with “various early and raw cassette recordings made by Kurt alone,” will include “And I Love Her” and 30 other songs. Another of those songs, an embryonic demo of the Nirvana rarity “Sappy,” will appear on Montage of Heck: The Home Recordings as well as serve as the B-side to the “And I Love Her” vinyl release that hits shelves on Nov. 20, one week after the full collection’s Nov. 13 release.
