Trevor Noah appears to be off to a good start: Comedy Central says the premiere of The Daily Show with Noah in the hosting seat reached a total of 7.5 million people who tuned into the simulcast for a minute or more over several Viacom-owned networks like MTV and Spike.
On Comedy Central alone, the new host attracted 3.7 million (that includes an encore airing) and boosted the show’s performance by 41 percent in adults 18-34, while the median age dropped by six years to 46, the net reports with results from Nielsen. Jon Stewart’s farewell telecast attracted 3.5 million, the second best performance in the show’s history.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah airs Monday through Thursday at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
