Simpsons premiere: Lena Dunham voices Homer's new love interest

Homer and Marge may not be getting divorced in the season 27 premiere of The Simpsons, but there will be some (legal) separation anxiety when Marge finally — finally! — reaches her limit with her husband.

In the wake of this marital messiness, a new woman enters the picture for Homer, who has been diagnosed with narcolepsy. She’s a twentysomething pharmacist named Candace (voiced by Girls creator/star Lena Dunham), and he falls for her when he’s filling his prescription. Want to get a feel for this non-Marge person of romantic interest? Check out this exclusive clip from the episode, titled “Every Man’s Dream.” Here, Candace is grilled by her skeptical friends (three of which are played by Girls costars Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, and Zosia Mamet) about what she sees in Homer. And what she sees is rather interesting.

Simpsons executive producer Al Jean has hinted to EW that there is a twist to this story, which seems to be rooted in overly familiar Homer-and-Marge-are-on-the-rocks territory. “For those who are sick of marriage-crisis episodes,” he says, “it goes in a completely different direction than any before.”

The Simpsons premieres Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
