Whenever Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling tweets, it’s an event, and today’s was a fairly big one. The author reveaed that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the Harry Potter play that is definitely not a prequel to the popular series of books, will be split into two parts.
The author then directed fans to the newly redesigned Pottermore site for more details, but there aren’t too many to be had. The Pottermore article is mostly the play’s writer, Jack Thorne, explaining how excited he is about the split. “Obviously I loved it when we decided to tell this story in two parts because I got to spend more time with the characters and what an honor that has been,” he wrote, without diving deeper into any specifics.
The most telling tidbit comes from the play’s director, John Tiffany, who added, “[The Cursed Child] shares a scale and ambition with all the Harry Potter stories so in order to do this justice we have decided to present the play in two parts.”
Interesting! So it’s a prequel?
