Jimpire: Tonight Show Empire parody stars Jimmy Fallon as Lucious

Taraji P. Henson’s Cookie makes an appearance, and Fallon’s final choice will surprise you

The action in season 1 of Empire kicks off when Lyon family patriarch Lucious discovers that he is gravely ill, and that he must choose a replacement to take over the wildly successful record label that he built from the ground up.

In Jimmy Fallon’s Empire parody, called “Jimpire,” the story beats are similar: Fallon, with his busted-up finger, must find an heir to the Tonight Show empire, and spends the 10-minute segment deciding on the right person for the job. Will it be announcer Steve Higgins, who does the best Cookie impersonation this side of Cookie herself (Taraji P. Henson, who along with Terrence Howard, shows up during “Jimpire”)? What about Questlove, who has harbored a secret for years and finally decides to reveal all live on stage? No and no, but here’s a hint about who Fallon chooses: Donald Trump.
