[SPOILER ALERT: Read on only if you have already watched the finale of Big Brother.]

It was the longest season of Big Brother ever, and when tonight’s finale began, there were three players left still fighting for the half million dollars: Vanessa, Steve, and Liz. Ninety minutes later, we had our champion. Steve Moses was crowned the winner of Big Brother 17 after defeating Liz Nolan in the final two.

The evening began with Vanessa winning part one of the final contest, which was a physical endurance competition in which the players had to sit on giant carnival “apples” for as long as possible. After Steve fell off, Vanessa messed with Liz’s mind the same way she did with twin Julia’s a few weeks back. She basically convinced her she could not win and it was in her best interest to just voluntarily drop down. So Liz did what she was told because that’s Liz. (Of course, Liz’s weakness basically ensured she would be taken to the finals by both players anyway.)

Steve then beat Liz in the second round, which involved scaling a giant wall while solving a Big Brother-themed crossword puzzle. After BB2 champ Will Kirby chatted with the jurors, we got to the live third part of the competition, which was the standard “guess what the juror said” game. Steve narrowly defeated Vanessa 5-4 to put himself in the finals with the power to decide whom he faced, and — not surprisingly — that person was Liz.

Then the power shifted to the jury who asked three group questions to each finalist before the voting finally took place. After final words from Steve and Liz, the votes were locked in and the non-jury members took the stage. Eventually, Steve was announced the winner of Big Brother.
