The Oscar race has a new surprise entry. Not only did the star-studded trailer for The Big Short just drop, but Paramount has announced that Adam McKay’s housing-crisis drama will close AFI Fest on Nov. 12 before hitting theaters this Christmas.
Based on the book by Michael Lewis (who also wrote Moneyball), The Big Short stars Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Brad Pitt as four outsiders who predicted the economy earthquake of the late 2000s, betting against the banks when no one else would. Karen Gillan, Melissa Leo, and Marisa Tomei also star.
The Big Short will open in limited release on Dec. 11 before going wide on Dec. 23. Watch the trailer below.
