The summer of Foo continues. Dave Grohl and co. gave fans another huge surprise during their tour stop on Anaheim, California on Saturday.

Drummer Taylor Hawkins brought Yes member Jon Davison, one of Hawkins’ best friends, on stage to play for their hometown. “He’s one of my best friends of all time,” Hawkins told the crowd. “I’ve known him since I was in second grade.”

The original plan, Hawkins tells fans, was to play a Yes song. But, as Dave Grohl points out, “they’re too f—ing hard.” So with Davison on lead vocals, the Foo Fighters instead covered Rush’s “Tom Sawyer”—and they killed it. Watch the video below.

The band has covered the song at other stops on the tour too, and one performance went viral after they brought an audience member, Brian Roberts, to the stage to help out.
