Will 'Game of Thrones' make Emmy history?

Posted on

HBO

All it takes is one.

Just ONE Emmy win tonight and HBO’s Game of Thrones will tie The West Wing for the most wins ever by a show during a single year (as Thrones previously has won eight Emmys at the Creative Arts Awards this year).

TWO wins and Thrones will beat West Wing for the most wins by a show in a year.

FOUR wins and Thrones will tie as the most-winning series ever, along with Hill Street Blues and The West Wing, for a lifetime total of 26 for its run. A number the show is certain to surpass in future seasons.

Thrones is nominated in several categories, but the award the Thrones team wants the most is the biggest — Outstanding Drama Series. Thrones has been nominated for the top prize each year but keeps being edged out. The only other sci-fi or fantasy show to ever win this category was ABC’s Lost

Thrones‘ top rival Mad Men could make Emmy history too. Mad Men has won the drama series prize four times, tying it with Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law and The West  Wing for the most wins in the category. No show has won five times before. Will Mad Men be the first?

Here is a complete list of 2015 Emmys won by GoT this year, so far…

— Outstanding Make-Up for a Single-Camera Series (Non-Prosthetic) (“Mother’s Mercy”)

— Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series (“The Dance of Dragons”)
