Halloween’s about to end on an appropriate note: EW can exclusively announce that SundanceTV’s The Returned, an eerie French drama about the undead known as Les Revenants in its home country, will return for its second season Oct. 31.
The Returned, which hasn’t aired since its first season premiered on SundanceTV in 2013, focuses on a collection of people who died years ago but have since returned to earth as if no time has passed. The show is based on 2004 French film titled They Came Back, and it inspired an A&E adaptation that debuted in 2015 (that version, also titled The Returned, was canceled after one season).
The new season will pick up six months after the last one left off, and according to exclusive photos, the mountain town where its set hasn’t gotten any brighter: The characters all wear a look of despair — including little Victor (Swann Nambotin, pictured above), who looks just as delightfully creepy as ever.
SundanceTV will air the first season (which is currently available to stream on Netflix) in its entirety Oct. 18 beginning at 6 a.m. ET, and the second season premieres Oct. 31 at 10 p.m. ET. See the photos below.
